About the course

Grants for specialists whose work has already delivered proven results in infertility treatment. Applications open on 1 February 2027.

The Fertility Award is a Sona-Pharm grant programme, held every two years, that supports innovation in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility. What sets it apart is that it rewards demonstrated effect rather than intent: only work with results already achieved and confirmed is considered. Submissions are reviewed anonymously — authors' names and institutions are not disclosed to the expert panel, and rejected submissions are destroyed and not retained. The Fertility Award 2027 ceremony will take place in July 2027 in Stockholm, during the days of the 43rd ESHRE Annual Meeting (4–7 July). In 2025 the grants were presented at a château near Paris, alongside the ESHRE meeting. How to apply: register using the form on this page, prepare an abstract following the instructions (no more than 1,500 words, in English and in Ukrainian or Russian) and send it to fertility.award@gmail.com. You will receive confirmation of receipt. Applications open on 1 February 2027.

What you will learn

Two categories

Clinical research — work with confirmed clinical results (implantation, pregnancy, live birth, newborn health). Business cases — positive results in a clinic's key performance indicators.

Results requirement

Only work with results already achieved and scientifically confirmed is considered. A completed pilot study with a positive outcome is acceptable.

Topics

Predictive models; objective assessment of gametes, embryos and endometrium; infertility diagnosis; preconception care; pregnancy maintenance; obstetric complications; offspring health; access to treatment; ART technologies.

How entries are scored

Five criteria, scored 1–5. Clinical research: improvement in outcomes, innovation, scientific justification, applicability, practical benefit. Business cases: innovation, feasibility, economic efficiency, strategic value, quality of data analysis.

Not eligible

Studies repeating registration trials (for already-registered drugs and indications), animal studies and fundamental scientific research.

The 2025 cycle in numbers

45 submissions from seven countries, two categories, eight grants (Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia). Top places went to AI-based projects and a study of the impact of the full-scale invasion on the reproductive health of women in Ukraine.
