About the course

Six lectures, two decades of evidence, one organ at the centre of every IVF cycle — the 2024 Summer School puts the endometrium under the microscope, from luteal-phase progesterone to robotic embryo injection.

What you will learn

Endometrial preparation: fresh and frozen

Apply mid-luteal progesterone monitoring in fresh transfers and choose between HRT, modified natural and NPP cycles in FRET.

Receptivity vs selectivity

Differentiate endometrial receptivity from selectivity in recurrent implantation failure rather than treating the endometrium as a binary on/off.

Day-of-transfer progesterone rescue

Interpret serum progesterone with a cut-off of 8.8-10 ng/mL on transfer day and add a second route when below threshold.

Endometrial microbiome in clinical practice

Position the ENMA test in the work-up of patients with recurrent implantation failure and act on dysbiotic profiles.

Next-generation embryo transfer

Recognise robotic, image-guided and microfluidic embryo transfer technology heading into first-in-human trials.

AI and femtech for endometrial workflows

Evaluate AI tools for endometrial ultrasound, hysteroscopy, CD138 chronic endometritis detection and at-home hormonal screening.

Who is this course for
  • Reproductive medicine specialists handling fresh and frozen embryo transfers
  • IVF clinic teams reviewing day-of-transfer progesterone protocols
  • Clinicians managing patients with recurrent implantation failure
  • Embryologists and clinical leads following automation and AI in ART

Course content

1

Opening of the school

Two decades of collaboration shaped today's IVF standards in the region — and the 2024 Summer School opens by acknowledging the people who built them. A short framing of the day ahead, focused entirely on the endometrium.

2

Endometrial preparation for fresh embryo transfer

Why does luteal progesterone matter just as much in fresh cycles as in frozen? A walk-through of trigger choice, mid-luteal cut-offs and rescue strategies for the suboptimal corpus luteum — built on more than 15 years of randomised trials.

3

Endometrial preparation for frozen embryo transfer

HRT, modified natural or true natural cycle — which preparation actually delivers the best obstetric outcomes? A practical synthesis of recent data on E2 duration, progesterone route and timing, day-of-transfer monitoring, and the new NPP protocol that may reshape weekend scheduling.

4

Block 1 Q&A: hormonal endometrial preparation

Open-floor Q&A following the fresh and frozen preparation talks. Live exchange on rectal vs subcutaneous progesterone rescue, oral dydrogesterone limits, dual stimulation, estradiol cut-offs and where E2 monitoring still adds clinical value in 2024.

5

Endometrial receptivity: from biosensor to clinical practice

Receptive or non-receptive? A continuum-based view of the endometrium as an active biosensor that selects against poor-quality embryos. Why the classical 'all in the egg' narrative misses recurrent implantation failure — and how a new diagnostic toolbox is taking shape.

6

Endometrial microbiome and IVF outcomes

Lactobacillus dominance, the ENMA test, and a personalised antibiotic-probiotic pathway: how far has the evidence for the endometrial microbiome come in IVF? Live-birth data, host-microbial interactions at the GPCR level, and what to do with a dysbiotic sample before transfer.

7

Block 2 Q&A: endometrial receptivity and microbiome

Open-floor Q&A on receptivity, selectivity and the microbiome. Discussion of sirolimus-class interventions, NK-cell modulation, probiotic strain specificity, and how to interpret an excess of Lactobacillus crispatus in the endometrium versus the vagina.

Direct embryo transfer: a new automated technique

How much of IVF failure happens after the transfer catheter leaves the cervix? An unpublished preview of next-generation embryo transfer — robotic microfluidic injection into a defined endometrial pocket under image guidance, on the way to first-in-human trials.

Artificial intelligence, femtech and automation in IVF

From at-home hormonal screening and ultrasound classifiers to CD138 detection in chronic endometritis and endometrium-on-chip — a tour of where artificial intelligence already adds value across the IVF cycle, and where its real limits sit today.
